Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!

Were you aware that the first Labor Day parade in United States history was held on September 5, 1882?  Ten thousand workers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square in New York City, according to History.com.

Even though the event reinforced the idea of a “workingmen’s holiday,” Congress didn’t legalize the holiday until 12 years later.

Labor Day is a day of rest or the last chance for many people to go on trips before the summer ends.  Some people think that Labor Day signifies the “end of summer”, when in reality the “official” end of summer comes with the September Equinox, or autumnal equinox, that’s scheduled to happen September 22, 2013 at 4:44 p.m. EDT.

Regardless of what you choose to do this Labor Day, we wish you a safe, fun, relaxing, and happy day!  Enjoy…
